This photorealistic portrait drawing of an African leopard is captured beautifully on textured card, which adds a natural, earthy feel to the artwork, enhancing the depth and realism of the drawing. The leopard’s golden coat is detailed with its unique pattern of bold black rosettes, creating a lifelike texture that almost feels touchable. It’s gaze liquid and poised. This artwork is perfect for anyone who loves wildlife and appreciates the incredible beauty of this animal.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Listed as vulnerable, the leopard can be a secretive animal, merging with its environment by dint of its marvellous coat. The basis of this drawing is in oil pencils with additional touches of oil paint for the whiskers. Having used acrylic paint for years, this drawing was my first in pencil since school days. And though I have painted tigers based on many visits to zoos, this was my first artwork of a leopard.
